Meet the Owner and Executive Chef

Claude Barnett acquired Gershwin’s in February of 2018 as Owner/Executive Chef. Prior to purchasing Gershwin’s, he was an assistant kitchen manager at Lucky Oyster in Virginia Beach, starting there in October of 2015.

Before moving to Virginia, Claude and his wife Joanne lived in Kona Hawaii on the big island of Hawaii. While in Hawaii Claude worked for Chef Sam Choy. Also, in Hawaii Claude refined many culinary skills including butchering, fish cutting and flavor combining while working with many varied and talented people that call Hawaii home in the culinary industry.

“Owning Gershwin’s has been a great experience,” he said. “From my great staff, to the many regular patrons, this adventure is turning out to be the best job I’ve ever had.”
